Interesting take on getting out of a suspension →
Trying to decrease 4 game suspension by blaming “overtraining”
gut2glam asked: It seems like my lungs because everytime I breathe in- it hurts the most. But it's on my back under my rib cage, so ribs could be a possibility?

Nike+
Well, my friend went down to Seattle and I go him to get me the Nike+ sensor (since they are waay cheaper down in the States). I just calibrated it and all and I’m ready to use it! I’m excited to finally track my running progress because I am THE WORST at tracking my progress/writing stuff down etc, so whenever I sync my music, this will just sync up with Nikeplus too which will allow...

Sore - Nutts
So yesterday we did the Hero WOD Nutts, and it’s as follows:
10 handstand pushups
15 250lb deadlifts
25 30 inch box jumps
50 pullups
100 20lb wall balls
200 double unders
400m run with a 45lb plate
Needless to say I’m sore, especially from the deadlifts. However, I was really happy that I was able to do those deadlifts, as they are just over 100lbs over my body...

Changing layout
It seems this layout, while looking sexy, doesn’t seem to let anyone ask questions or reply, and I can’t easily read what people say. Therefore, I feel I should change the layout so that everyone can have more benefit out of the blog. I would like it if people could ask questions easily and people can openly see other’s opinions and we can all share :P Regardless, please bear...

My Dinner: Hearty Spinach and Endive Salad
Post workout dinner!
cookclean:
Who thinks salads are just for starting out a meal? Well you might change your mind after you try this substantial salad that is loaded with protein and veggies. If possible opt for a locally made sausage, as they often house less preservatives and often are made fresh on site. This salad isn’t your girlfriends supper, so give it a try.

Rest Day
Well… Pretty self explanatory here. I took 2 weeks off after the Games and am doing my best to ease back in to things. Well, it’s hard, but I must ease! Therefore, today = rest day.

Garlic Lime Salmon Pockets
(My lunch today)
cookclean:
In keeping with today’s theme of superfood, tonight’s dinner is a brain friendly meal of garlic lime salmon and veggies. These tender and juicy fish fillet’s with accompanying veggies are great for those nights when don’t have time for much meal prep and would rather not think about orchestrating the elaborate timing of multiple dishes. It is as easy as tossing...

Benchmark month
So, at our gym, we have deemed August as a sort of benchmark month, where every day we will be doing a benchmark WOD. At first, I have to admit, I thought it was silly, but after doing a few of “the girls,” I am having a blast. I’ve never really had the chance to do these benchmark WODs, so the fact that I am doing them now will allow me to establish my times for each and then go...

Fructose and Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease...
Well I’ve been slacking lately. Work has been pretty busy so I haven’t been able to keep up with my posts as of late. For those of you reading, I apologize!
I thought I would start up again with an interesting study published in Nature (a huge scientific journal) in May about the role of high fructose corn syrup and liver disease, specifically, Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease...

More genetic links! Maybe in a year or two the clinical phase will start, aka drugs will start being sent through clinical trails? What do you think about this.

Dietary Supplements and claims →
A US Congressional investigation revealed these outcomes. A number of toxins, pesticides, and false health claims in dietary supplements. I think the FDA should regulate them… just me though. A touchy subject I’m sure!

Interesting take on energy drinks →
A new studt in the Canadian Medical Journal. For those of you who don’t reside in Canada, this article is from our national news source, CBC. I really like their take on the news. Regardless, a very interesting idea nonetheless. It mainly pertains to children, but won’t be surprised if this extrapolates to adults soon.

An artcile on the 2010 Crossfit Games in Forbes. It’s great to see it defined as a “sport” here instead of a fitness regime. Written by Dr. Patrick Rishe.

Shoes. Do they really work? Pt 1
Shoes. These things on our feet seem to be of some controversy as of late.
It seems especially big in the crossfit community, but even beyond that, to be extremely concerned with your shoes, or lack there of. I see tons of crossfitters, and people in general wearing Vibram Five fingers and Nike Frees. Along with the Paleo diet, we’re going back in time to become cavemen living in the 21st...
Citrus and Ginger Baked Asparagus
cookclean:
My big brother is coming for dinner and I am serving him up a fare of Tomato and Spinach Stuffed Turkey Breasts, lemon dilled baby potatoes and a little Citrus and Ginger Baked Asparagus. Tonight’s recipe will be for the Asparagus, a low calorie veggie that is high in Vitamin C, folate and potassium. I know asparagus was probably one of those side dishes you lamented as a child,...
This was really cool to see. I’m glad Again Faster supports people doing good in the community. I never would have thought Crossfit would have been a vehicle for keeping people off the streets, but it’s great that it has grown to that level. The below paragraph is from their website:
“Steve’s Club is the primary beneficiary of Again Faster’s donation dollars. Please...
An Again Faster Equipment Commercial. I love to watch this when I get down on myself.

Compare yourself to the fittest
So the Crossfit Games site just put out a post on the results of the Games and an explanation of how they worked. It was interesting to see how it all added up. Fo those of you who are interested, you can see how they were scored, and, if you so choose to do these WODs, you can see how you stack up vs the fittest men/women on earth.

Some firsts
My first post! How exciting.
I” am now back from Carson with an okay tan but a sweet drive thanks to all the unreal performances at the 2010 Crossfit Games. This was my first time visiting/appearing at the Games, and I must say, it was a great experience. The atmosphere was amazing. People who had no clue who you were were just cheering you on while performing at any given event. For one of...
